As the year of the Earth Boar dawns, our Shambhala Community is longing to heal and strengthen our commitment to being a culture of bravery, kindness, wisdom and compassion. With this aspiration, the global sangha is engaging with a year-long series of teachings in traditional Mahayana Buddhist practices, led by our senior Acharyas.

The Mahayana Buddhist teachings are foundational practices and view to many Buddhist lineages, including Shambhala. Therefore these teachings with be of interest to this

Our Fredericton Centre is pleased to offer this online series, with live talks online every second Sunday throughout the year, beginning February 10th. The first presentation will coincide with our marketing of Shambhala Day and will be offered free of charge.

The program is open to anyone who has completed Level III Shambhala Training or the Joy in Everyday Life Class (the 3rd in the Everyday Life series).

We are offering the program locally at a steep discount to make the series available as broadly as possible. (See program fees below). The program fee if you participate as group at the Centre is more than a 50% discount compared to registering yourself with Shambhala Online.

The path of the Bodhisattva Warrior begins with developing affection for ourselves and expands this to others, dissolving the barriers that divide us. To support this practice, the Shambhala Acharyas have offered to lead the community in the year-long deep dive into the Mahayana, with meditations and contemplative practices from the Buddhist Mahayana teachings of our lineage.

While these teachings follow a path, they are stand alone teachings. You can join in at any time during the year. It is not a problem to drop in and out or miss classes. In fact, you can drop in for a single evening if you wish.

The year’s teachings are divided into four seasonal themes. Every three months a new course will begin, but the program will be continuous. Within each season, acharyas will be offering talks that relate to that topic with their own personal approach. There will be one online discussion forum for each season.

The themes for the four seasons echo the virtues of the four Dignities of the Shambhala Path:

Feb-April: Tiger--Friendly to Self and Merciful to Others / The Four Immeasurables.

May-July: Lion--The Joy of Discipline / The Six Paramitas

July-October: Garuda--Space Beyond Hope and Fear / Heart Sutra and Shunyata

October-January: Dragon--Compassionate Engagement / Lojong , Mind Training.

Single semester registration: $35 (please pay in person at the centre by cash or cheque).

Any single night: $10.
